2008 Honda Accord's price grows as per the car's size

The all-new 2008 Honda Accord is larger in all dimensions, including the MSRP. Prices now start at $20,995 and work their way up to $31,145, and this before you start adding options and accessories. The $20,995 (plus a $635 destination charge) is a $1,775 increase over last year's corresponding model.

Interesting, and a little ambitious.

Or perhaps they are just leaving room for incentives.

Nearly $32k with freight is too close to Acura for comfort.

The media is gonna go crazy with the price bump. Though, I imagine with the heavy inflation we've been getting these past few years, Honda will only be the first.

I think Honda and Toyota are on the wrong end of an American trend downwards. They keep upping their cars to plus sizes (RAV4, xB, Accord, Camry) at a time when people are looking at fuel economy.

I personally dont think the Accord will get any bigger than the new one. The price increase is expected since you get MORE car. This isnt the first Accord over $30K.

The only thing Im worried about is the loss of torque in the midrange due to the VCM. The non VCM 3.5 V6 with the same peak hp/tq ratings available in the 6 speed coupe has nearly a 30lbft advantage in the midrange. Thats HUGE!

Of all manufacturers I would think Honda could have got past this issue or at least made a better effort. Honda, drop the VCM and give the V6 the 6 speed automatic it deserves.
