The Net was abuzz all day about the possibility VW and Apple partnering to develop an iCar. Apparently the CEOs of both companies, Steve Jobs and Martin Winterkorn met earlier this week to discuss a possible deal. If this were to happen, it's sure to be one wild ride, packed with technology no one has even thought of before. You also know it will cost about twice what other comparable (if that word can even be used here) vehicles cost...

Let's see, Apple has the iPhone, Microsoft is building the "surface", a table with a similar interface.
I guess in theory we could expect to see a car with such a surface in place of the regular dash board. The entire dash a pressure-sensitive screen.
The table costs $7 grand so imagine what such a car would cost.

As one of the links mentions, Microsoft already has partnered with Ford with the Sync stuff. Bill is in his last year at MSFT so he probably isn't paying all that much attention anyway. Ballmer is the guy who foams.
If Jobs can simplify some of the controls that distract the driver, more power to him.

Well, this has potential. Maybe, they can infuse some reliability on the electronics as in their computers. If that happened, I'd be happy to swing back to VW from Toyota. I think VW should allow Apple to design the exterior as well. I used to be as loyal to VW as I am to Apple now. Bluetec meets Blue Tooth baby!
