Spy shots of the all-new 2009 Honda Pilot are up on Inside Line . So far little is known about the vehicle. Even so, I think the new Acura MDX might give a clue as to what's under the skin. By that I mean don't expect anything more than what the MDX offers from a technology standpoint...

I expect better driving dynamics, material quality, standard features, options, performance, and an upgrade in powertrains. The V6 should be simular to the MDX's 3.7 but not have as much hp. Id say about 270-280hp range. A 3.0 turbo diesel should show its face some time after the initial debut.

i hope you can combine navigation and dvd player this time around... Hopefully it has more power than the v6 pathfinder and real room for 8.
I looks more like a major freshening than new model. The grille, size, and tire size look changed. The rest does not.
Soon, honda will likely make a 4l v6 with MDX hp like torque and use it in the TL, RL, ect.

This is a full revamp, as the Pilot has already seen a mid life freshening. I dont think we will see a V8 option as the diesel would offer simular or better torque and economy.
TL doesnt need a 4.0 V6 as its pretty fast with the 3.5 and the base 3.2. The current RL just needs to be dumped all together and replaced with a proper RWD sport luxury sedan.

Correction. The RL needs to be sold as an Avalon equivalent in the Honda ranks. Then Acura needs to start building RWD models.

I dont think Honda needs an Avalon equivalent as the 08 Accord is pretty good in size. Acura on the other hand is what currently holding Honda back from thier full potential. Honda cant make the Accord sportier because it would step on the TL's toes.
Ive been saying this for years....Honda should make the Acura car line RWD and the Accord could be raised to FWD Acura TL levels of performance which certainly isnt bad.
