Spy photos: 2009 Jaguar XF uncovered

After months of seeing the 2009 Jaguar XF sedan covered in camouflage, we can finally bring you the first shots of an almost completely uncovered production model. The rear end looks much like the C-XF concept and features "Jaguar" script on the trunklid, a "leaper" above the lettering and a pair of nicely integrated tail pipes. As we expected, vents in the front quarter panels mimic the current XJ sedan and XK coupe. The wheel design is new -- and not particularly very attractive...
Let's hope there are some additional wheels on the options list for the U.S.

An interesting sub-plot here with Brenda Priddy auctioning off the camo duck tape, with the proceeds going to a charity.

I very much doubt those are even production wheels. Most of these testers run around with what spare parts are left in the lab.

Looks good, at least what I can see from it.

Even the wheels look beefy, almost like what AMG might offer.

FYI: Those ARE the production wheels, at least one set that will be offered initially worldwide.

The spy shots make it look nice.

From what I can gather the design looks to be pretty nice but at the same time it doesnt say JAG-U-AH. The older Jaguars (before Ford) had a timeless, old world, mysterious style about them and without those qualtiies I cant consider this a Jaguar.

BUT.....at the same time I can agree with Jaguar that Jaguar needs to reinvent itself as a high end luxury car maker and NOT OFFER rebaged Fords. You have to keep the compromises short to none in the luxury segement as its much different. You hear that Acura?

Looks good. It's a shame that it won't have the leaping cat hood ornament though. I think it would look good on this car.

I really like the styling, it does however put me in mind of the Aston like as does the curent XK. I actualy like the standard wheels as well, they offer a beefy/sport look that is a nice contrast to what appears to be very sleek lines.

The BMW 5 Series offers similar wheels... I think they were designed to stir up thej memories of those of us that use to play with Hot Wheels growing up as they are similar to the standard Hot Wheel wheel design.

If this vehicle is as nice as it appears and the reliability has been as sound as Ford's current new product it will likley be my first Jaguar purchase. I have typically driven Mercedes Benz coupes and sedans but really like this styling direction as it offeres a presence/visual impact similar to that of the Benz.
