While not exactly all-new (in fact it's been on sale since 2004), the tiny 2-door Peugeot 1007 is interesting in that it offers minivan-like sliding front doors.
What a great idea! Where is written that sliding doors have to occur only on minivans?
Check it out on the Peugeot International web site here . More discussion can be found here (if you scroll down a bit) on Karl on Cars ...

While these would certain reduce the dings in parking lots, are these safe? I can't imagine these having the structural rigidity of a standard door.

They may stop you dinging other cars, but they will not stop other cars dinging you.

Just remember not to call it the Ten-Oh-Seven. The French will correct you that it's One Thousand Seven, or the even more correct, Mille Sept.
Those doors are tres chic, though.

Amazing that Peugot went through one thousand and six designs before they settled on this one. Word on the street has it that the 1004 had suicide doors, 1005 had drawbridge doors,1006 had gullwing doors.

Just wait 'til you see the 1008. It's got revolving doors!

Let's just hope the designers don't watch the opening sequence of Get Smart!
ahem, I see that show on TV Land, I swear I'm not that old...

I really like the sliding doors on my van, this would be cool especially if they were power-operated.
For those who think I'm lazy, does your car have power windows? Seats? Steering? Door locks? Mirrors?
I thought so. :-)

You know, it'd actually be pretty cool to see sliding doors on a truck. Extended cabs are so hard to get out of, and crew cabs could benefit as well.

This car would be great for wheel chair bound people. They normally have to drive converted vans. With this they could actually have something fun.
