Even in exotic-addled Southern California it's rare to see a Ford GT (unless you hang out in our long-term parking area...). But over the next four days there will be over 100 of them cruising through Orange County as part of the 2nd Annual Ford GT Owner's Rally. The organizers had quite a challenge in topping last year's rally, where participants could see the last production GT's being assembled at the Saleen Special Vehicles and Wixom plants near Detroit. But even without a plant tour this year's rally offers some good reasons to revel in all things GT...
The schedule of events includes a tour of Saleen's Irvine facility (complete with rides in the latest, 750-horsepower version of the S7), a road course set up at the former El Toro air base, and a rally along Angeles Crest Highway. At the end of the rally all 100-plus GTs will pull into the Petersen Automotive Museum for a dinner event with much of the Ford GT development team, plus some guys called Shelby, Gurney and a few other names you might know from Ford's past.

That sounds like so much fun, Karl! Hopefully, the police don't throw a wrench into the good times that will be had going from one location to the next.
I think I would like to meet Dan Gurney more than Carroll Shelby. A.J. Foyt probably won't be there since he'll be tending to his IRL team in Brooklyn, MI. I'd love to meet Steve Saleen too because he's a Trojan alumnus.
