On the other hand, there's Chrysler, or what's left of it now that Cerebrus has taken over and, according to Peter DeLorenzo at Auto Extremist, set a course for utter disaster. It wasn't bad enough that Wolfgang Bernhard rejected the offer of CEO. No, they had to bring in former Home Depot top dog Bob Nardelli. The key is what it always has been, says Peter: Great products flow from the guts of people who know and love cars and have the fire and the will to succeed at all costs in bringing those great products to the street.
Ever wonder what a day in the life of a spy photog is like? Winding Road's Glenn Paulina will tell you all about it.
Speaking of spy shots, 4WheelsBlog has links to some great shots of a heavily disguised Dodge Challenger mule in testing. Looks like more of the concept's styling is headed for production than expected. Anybody willing to bet the Challenger will do for Chrysler now what the Viper did in the Lutz era at Highland Park? Peter?
Where do you go in search of "a handsome bit of theater with (oxymoronic) minimalist flair?" Why, Justin Berkowitz at The Truth About Cars, of course. Don't you just love it when auto guys write stuff like that! And about a Volvo to boot.
Here's something I don't even want to think about (but you might): GM engineers in drag. Kate McLeod at AskPatty.com will tell you all about it.
Wanna see another Video Idiot in action? The Auto Prophet has it, as usual.
So, when was the last time you drove something with a power-to-weight ratio of 3.36/1? For the engineeringly disadvantaged, that means a mere 3.36 pounds for every one horsepower. That is , like, mega-fantastic-good. Simona Alina at Top Speed will tell you all about the edo MC12 Corsa.
Joe Sherlock hit the road for vacation this week but just before leaving he did a really nice rendering of the 56 Continental MK II and some currency projection to determine what it would cost were it introduced today. The numbers tell the story at The View Through the Windshield but it just wouldn't the same without Joe's deft hand at the drawing board.
August is vacation time, but before yo make like Sherlock and head off for two weeks of R & R, you might want to check out Kay Bell's Don't Mess With Taxes. Take her word for it and avoid the taxing vacation.

Never never never use an SUV to pull something out of the ground.
Peter said exactly what the rest of us are saying about Chrysler (though I haven't heard much attack on Cerebus itself other than it's cost-cutting practices). He says 5 years. Is he right? Longer? Sooner? I bet it'll last a lot longer, but only because I foresee Cerebus selling it in the near future.
