Bob Nardelli a car guy?

Apparently new Chrysler CEO Bob Nardelli may actually turn out to be a "car guy." Well, let's just say he owns a Prowler, which certainly is a good sign. In any event he showed up at this Prowler gathering, driving his very own. Should be good for at least a few brownie points with the gearhead crowd, no?

"If anybody asks whether or not you're a car guy, you tell them you were a Prowler guy long before you got the job," Chrysler employee Tom Staniszewski, 47, of Warren told Nardelli after he and James Finck, 52, of Clarkston gave him an orange Hawaiian shirt commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Prowler, which was built between 1997 and 2002. Both men helped design the roadster...
"Yes, I was," Nardelli responded.

Staniszewski: "And if anyone asks you if you are a moneythirsty tyrant, you say no"
Nardelli: "I have not and will not be a moneythirsty tyrant"
Staniszewski: "Ok, when I snap my fingers you will wake up..."

The Prowlers a cool car but they stopped buiding it one year too soon. It needed a cool engine too match the looks and I would have loved to drive a 2800 lb Prowler with a hemi.

My gut feeling is that Nardelli will have a short tenure or create chaos and rebellion throughout the Chrysler organization with the results clearly evident in the product.
Chrysler clearly has exciting exterior design and they struggle with driving dynamics, crude interiors and quality is low with resulting high warranty costs. A "car guy" is needed to rally the troops to the challenge. GE experience brings the processes to increase quality and decrease cost. Home Depot experience......well....Nardelli ruined Home Depot by cutting cost and allowing the "employee's with product knowledge" that had differentiated Home Depot to fall to the wayside. Menards was less expensive, Lowes was cleaner and brighter and Home Depot had employees that were helpful and could actually answer a question about the merchandise. Now Home Depot is just a Walmart with building materials and I blame Nardelli.
Sebring and Caliber are less than mediocre. Look for Nardelli to expand this mediocrity to more of Chryslers products.
Only Jeep will survive. Split Chrysler up and sell it to the highest bidders.
And it should be fun to watch the relationship of Chrysler and Unions play out with the Nardelli's reputation for wage cuts, staff cuts, and benifit cuts.......LOL!
