According to MotorAuthority
, Honda's much anticipated V6 diesel is likely to show up first on their Odyssey minivan in 2010. After that expect to see it on both the Pilot and Ridgeline. No word as to whether the V6 diesel will be offered on the Accord, although a 4-cylinder diesel will be offered on that model. The engine is believed to be a 3.5L unit, and is expected to be 30% more fuel efficient that an equivalent gas models...

The first US minivan with a diesel and the first SUV with one since the Suburban dropped it in '99. This is gonna be big.

I can't wait for these diesel engines to come out. I just hope it's well received with US consumers.
Side note: the Ford Expedition had a diesel for a few years in the 2000's. They just got rid of it like 2 or 3 years ago.

Proof that Ford's naming conventions can confuse even enthusiasts. Thanks for the correction Bob :-)

I bet these sell quite well.
I wonder, though, is the diesel 30% more efficient than the base Ody, or vs. the Ody with VCM?

I know the Odyssey will get the diesel first over the Ridge just based on sales numbers alone but its the Ridgeline that needs the diesel first in my eyes as the 3.5 V6 is just adequate.
Im pretty happy with the power/fuel milage of my wifes 05 Odyssey Touring and the van overall. More than likely we will purchase another in a couple of years.

My current Odyssey will be due for replacement at about that time. I think I know what my next car purchase will be.
