Inside Line drove the new 2008 Cadillac CTS on the Nürburgring. It has a 304-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 engine and 80 percent of the peak torque output of 273 lb-ft is available at 1,000 rpm.

These amazing photos are usually depressing. They remind me that I can't simply go out for a nice drive here in the urban jungle that is Los Angeles most of the time because of traffic, work, or other reasons. :(

That's more hp than the top-of-the-line Impala SS.

that is a shweeet interior. Ford take note. Especially since the MKX just reviewed has a heinous interior for the same money.
Like the fender flares too.

I LOVE the interior as its both striking and balanced. The exterior is good as it recalls Cadillacs of past and remains modern at the same time.
The only thing thats a bit off is the rear doors and windows as they look to short. It almost looks as if Caddy took 3-4 inches from the wheel base and put it back together. Also I read (somewhere) this car weighs over 4100lbs in RWD trim!

GM will certainly be putting out some pretty nice rides over the next couple of years. This car, the upcoming G8 and Camaro and even the new Saturn Astra from Germany will all be very compelling. Hopefully they'll be able to convince a lot of car buyers who have deserted them over the last decade or so to come back and give these new cars a serious look. Being in GM upper management and marketing would either be the most fun challenge you could possibly have, or an absolute frustrating nightmare!
Although a little pricey for me - I'll give this new CTS a serious look when I start shopping around next year.

I really like that fastback C-pillar... Other than that, it isn't much of a change over the old one on the outside. Kind of a been there, done that with the vertical slit lights and blocky shape. I've seen this car in person as it was parked in a high traffic area of MA town and people could've cared less about it.
The interior however is a complete 180 from the last one in appearance. I didn't peak into the windows as I was just driving by it a few times but from the photos it loks like design has stepped up a bit from the old one. Hopefully the materials are a bit more substantial than those on the Saturn Aura which look good but are uber- cheapo.
All in all, it should do well, but it's not godly like its been hyped as.
4100 lbs is porky...
Edit: the 6-speed manual is a welcome option

Check out the dash top closely, folks, that's stiched leather!
Photo #7 shows this nicely.
Very nice. Interior puts the BMW 3 series to shame. No contest.

egads! how i love this car. personally, if i was in the market for a luxury car to just cruise around in, this would be my first choice. :) that says a lot since i'm usually a pretty vocal advocate in favor of imports (be it german or japanese).

I was mighty impressed with this car - and the Holden Commodore SS ( our Pontiac G8). I'm looking forward to getting my hands on production samples of both on home soil!
