A 9ff modified Porsche, fitted with ContiSportContact Vmax tires, recorded a speed of 242 mph which is a world record for a production road tire. The ContiSportContact Vmax is a tire that was designed specifically to withstand the stresses of high speed driving, braking, accelerating and cornering. The major priority during its development was efficient tire cooling, while maintaining excellent handling and good grip in the wet.
The car is owned by German Jan Fatthauer, who runs his own Porsche customizing company...
What's curious is that the Bugatti Veyron claims a top speed of 253 mph. If so what tires were they using? They must have been purpose-built racing tires, because no "street-legal tire" is capable of that speed.

Those are warp-rated, right?

I assume whatever tires the Bugatti is running on were tested at 253 Mph.
Whether those tires are rated to withstand _continuous_ or short periods of 243 driving is unknown by me.
Are the ContiSportContact Vmax tires rated for __continuous__ 242 mph speed? If not, then how long can they be driven at this speed before the treads shred or heat buildup destroys the rubber?

It may not matter. The Veyron can only sustain top speed for 12 minutes before it runs out of gas. lol
Granted, you've gone 50 miles in that time...

The Bugatti Veyron tires can only withstand 15 minutes of speed at 253mph.

Those are some mind blowing statistics.
