BBC News

Just when Jaguar comes out with something good like the XK and possibly the new XF, Ford decides to sell it. Ford will probably get pennies on the dollar compared to what it has already invested in the company. Dumb I say. Ford should have sold Jaguar a long time ago. At this point you might as well finish the revival and make some money from it.

Makes sense to me, having Jaguar has always limited what Lincoln could do. They always had to be less than Jaguar.

ateixeira,
While Jag HAS been holding Lincoln back, it's Ford's fault for allowing such a prestigious nameplate to become a glorified Lincoln. Ford hasn't done much with Jaguar that's true to its racing heritage and hasn't proven to be on par with the likes of BMW, M-B, or even Lexus.
I'm with you though. Jaguar is better under someone other than Ford.

I remember when I was little, I would see a Jaguar (Jag-you-ah) and it gave a sense of "mysterious luxury". The new Jags just dont exude that and I feel that was what made Jaguar....Jaguar. The new Jags (mostly the lower end models) appear cheap and lack that exspensive tailored look the older Jags are known for.
I think BMW should by Jag because they seem to be able to keep with the marks tradition while making them modern and classy at the same time. They did wonders for the Range Rover, as that looks EXSPENSIVE and they kept the Range Rover-ness.
