are reporting that Cadillac will have a number 2-mode hybrids added to their product portfolio in the next few years. Models to be considered hybrid candidates are the Escalade, BLS, DTS, BRX and CTS. Depending on the model, engines range from a 2.4L 4-cylinder, a 3.6L, and 3.9L V6s, as well as a 5.3L V8.
It sounds like a good move on Cadillac's part...

Did anyone notice that the Northstar's displacement (4.6L) is absent? What will GM replace it with?

The 4.6L is a performance engine for cars. It doesn't need a hybrid.
The 3.6-liter hybrid will outperform the 4.6L anyways, with much better fuel economy to add.
Similarly, the Lexus GS's 4.3-liter does 0-60 mph in 5.7 seconds, while the 3.5-liter hybrid can do 5.2 seconds, and save 4 mpg.

The GS hybrid I drove at the Taste of Lexus event was getting a dismal 7 mpg according to the trip computer.
Performance hybrids don't make a lot of sense. The battery packs make them too heavy to handle well, and if you use the power they're not all that efficient, either.
Caddy should do a CTS hybrid. Aim for economy, not all out performance.
Look how the Camry hybrid is selling compared to the Accord (V6) hybrid.
