Spy photos: 2009 Lincoln MKS spotted again

Here are the latest spy photos of the 2009 Lincoln MKS. As in previous spy shots, the MKS looks like a big, nondescript sedan that will have a tough time boosting Lincoln's fading image. We suspect Lincoln will add a little power to Ford's 3.5-liter V6 to give the MKS a leg up on the new Taurus while all-wheel drive may come standard. A similar upgrade to the interior of the MKS is assured as that may be the only area where this sedan can make a statement...

Are those the same shots? It still looks like a Pacifica to me front the front. Yes, it looks that big!

Lincoln should have made full use of the Lincoln LS's platform as it was a much better start than the FWD platform they offer now. I dont think Ford gets it.

The LS platform (DEW98) was expensive, and they were not selling enough to recoup the costs. The platform was designed by Ford and Jaguar. The cost was in the suspension setup. Ford was going to use a downgraded system (DEW) in the current generation Mustang, but dropped it for the D2C which has a simpler suspension setup (and is much cheaper to build).

"Adding a little power" to the Taurus engine is not sufficent means to differentiate a Lincoln from a Ford. At this rate, Lincoln doesn't have a prayer.

Arumage, I know that it cost more to build but Lincoln seems to be going backwards. They should do something simular to Cadillac an Infiniti, it got them on the map. Acura has some good offerings too but like Lincoln they need to go to RWD school.

arumage,

Just because the platform was expensive and Ford was losing money on it doesn't mean abandon it. That's American Automaker mentality right there. That's why no nameplate stays around for more than 5 or 6 years anymore. It's so porcelain. The first sign of weakness or strain and they just give up and junk it.

What they should've done was evolve the LS platform into something even better than what it was and use it to underpin several cars under the Ford and Lincoln names. But they just decide to scrap it all in favor of a cheap, easy to make, but ultimately inferior alternative. That's backwards.

Rumor... 3.5 liter V6 twin turbo charged...???? Watch out 300 SRT8, and Cadillac V series.

Nice looking exterior. Worthy modifications were made to aftermarket Lincoln peformance parts. Also, the car maker made groundbreaking upgrades to other Lincoln vehicles including this MKS.
