Rare 1962 Le Mans-winning Ferrari to be auctioned off

The winning Ferrari driven by Phil Hill in the 1962 Le Mans race is to be auctioned off. The 4.0L Testa Rossa Spyder, the last ever built, could raise perhaps as much as 7.5 million euros ($10.1 million) according to joint organizers RM Auctions Inc. and Sotheby's, which will occur May 20 in Maranello, Italy.

"The winning cars of Le Mans, especially an elegant one like the '62 Testa Rossa, are almost priceless, and deservedly so," said Leo Hindery Jr., managing partner of New York-based buyout firm InterMedia Partners LLC, who won the race's GT2 category in 2005...
The current owner has raced the Testa Rossa in state rallies and uses it for weekend drives.

Hard to believe that the expected price for this very rare Ferrari is in the same neighborhood that The General Lee fetched (or not). Harder to believe still is the fact that I used the words Ferrari and The General Lee in the same sentence.

UPDATE: The winning bid was 7 million Euros, or roughly $9.4 million, including auction fees and taxes. Story here at Jalopnik.
