Dale Earnhardt Jr. splits with family DEI race team



Dale Earnhardt Jr., who has been in negotiations with his stepmother over the direction of the DEI team, has decided to go his own way, as they could not come to terms. Earnhardt, among other things, felt he couldn't be competitive with the team as it currently stood. Anyone following NASCAR should not be surprised by the news, as this had been rumored for some time. Now it's official...
"The decision is made today based solely on my driving career," Earnhardt said. "Over the last year or two, I've shortchanged my fans."

So the bidding war for Junior's services is about to begin...

Can't blame him, though, the MIL just didn't want to spend the money to keep him competitive.
