Clark takes the wheel at the Antique Auto Museum at Hershey

For antique car lovers everywhere, this Bud's for you...

From the press release:
HERSHEY, PA. Darwin E. Clark is the new President of the Board of Directors of the AACA Museum...
He succeeds Jonathan I. Griggs as the eleventh president in the Museum’s fourteen year history.

Darwin is a self-described car guy, for whom automobiles have been an occupation, a hobby, and a life-long passion. In 2004, he retired after a 44 year career at General Motors, where he rose from the position as a draftsman at the Buick Motor Division to become GM Vice President and General Manager Industry - Dealer Affairs. During his time at GM, Clark had assignments in engineering, service, parts, sales, and marketing in the U. S. and Europe. He also served as GM Vice President and General Manager of Oldsmobile Division.

As a member of the Museum’s Board of Directors, Darwin has helped refocus the Museum’s strategic and business planning processes. Under his guidance, planning has become a dynamic, meaningful management tool. The plans and the approach used to develop them reflect his vision of the Museum as a best in class institution that is working to become the “crown jewel” of the AACA.

While automobiles have played a prominent role in his career, they have also been a long time hobby interest. As might be expected, his collecting interests focus on GM cars – fast, high performance GM cars. He owns several Corvettes, including a meticulously restored ‘54 Corvette, an award-winning ’63 Corvette split-window, and a new Z06 Corvette, and a “special built” ’68 Camaro. A hands-on collector, he does much of his own restoration work (or as he puts it, “everything but paint”). Clark welcomes the opportunity and challenges of leading the Museum. “I enjoy the hobby and am honored to be President of the AACA Museum and a part of the AACA family.” His vision is to help the AACA Museum achieve “best in class” status and become the “crown jewel” of the Antique Automobile Club America.

The Antique Auto Museum at Hershey, a member of the Smithsonian Institute Affiliations Program, displays beautifully restored automobiles in unique scenes and settings. This Museum is one of the nation’s newest and largest automotive museums. Visitors are transported through eight decades in time from New York to San Francisco, making each visit a visual adventure for all ages. Special exhibits and events change throughout the year giving return visitors something new. The Museum is located just off Route 39, one mile west of Hersheypark Drive in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Regular admission $9, seniors age 61 and older $8, juniors age 4-12 $7, children age 3 and under are FREE. The Museum is open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. For further information, please call 717-566-7100 or visit the AACA Museum here.

Ya know... I live 30 mins away from this place and pass it on occasion when I drive to Hershey for a hockey game or to go to the park. Honestly, I've never been there. Always thought about going, but never really got around to it. I will say, though, that over the summer they have some pretty interesting automobiles sitting outside the museum.

I might just have to make a trip down there this summer :-)
