Spy photos: 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

It may be covered in hideous camouflage, but this is most certainly the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Caught during cold weather testing in Northern Scandinavia, these sedan prototypes show only minor differences from the current models. Most of the greenhouse appears unchanged, so expect the most noticeable differences to come in the way of new front and rear fascias. You can bet on plenty of additional new technology too, although the hybrid drivetrain that's expected to debut in the S-Class probably won't make it into the E-Class for another year or two after its launch.

I vote they dump the double oval headlights. They look dated. And it's not often I say that.

It seems like the current E-Class isnt that old at all. Must be taking the Honda approach of full model change.

The front of this car in the spy photo looks like it has the "eyebrow" like the C/s classes and the BMW5.

Hope they still sell the E320 CDI/bluetec. Cant wait to see that diesel tec in the C class.

The E-Class will actually keep the double headlights but hey will be more streamlined, and rectangular shaped. (Similar to the shapes of the Lexus GL-350)

I guess I'll reserve judgment until the camo comes off.

So far it looks like a stretch C-class.

what a copycat! the front dual membrane left and right lights look exact replica of a lexus gs 350! the rear looks eerily like a hyundai azera!

hey german engineers, stop copying the lexus and hyundai designs. just because the previous e-class sucked doesn't mean you have to copy the best (lexus) or the surprisingly good (hyundai azera).

do a google search for 2010 e-class and you can see full shots, i am not allowed to post the html....you will see how closely it resembles a gs350/azera

honda, they're not emulating the honda/acura model of full model change. in fact, most, if not all, japanese and korean companies do the 5-year model change cycle, and most german companies use a 7-year model cycle (generally speaking). the e-class was redesigned after the 2002 model year (I have a 2002 E-class and it is the older, more squared version). So, 2003-2009 would be a seven-year cycle, with the new model debuting 2010...right on schedule.
