QinetiQ's X-Net arrests cars quickly and safely

We've all seen the police videos on TV with crazed drivers endangering other motorists with their wild rides. Well, the company QinetiQ has a better idea. It's called X-Net, and it brings vehicles to a stop much more effectively than do spike strips or any other method to date. Here's a video on how it works...
States Fiona Lewinton, MD of QinetiQ: “...is the fact that X-Net stops the vehicle without harming its occupants or damaging the vehicle. The driver and passengers remain completely unharmed and any attempts to drive back and forth are thwarted by the net.”

This device is in use with both the UK and US military, and I would expect many police departments have a strong interest in it as well.

It's certainly effective on a FWD car. I'm sure it would limit a RWD too. I'd hate to be the cop who has to unsnare the net though.

Better than spike strips, since people seem to keep driving even on bare rims.

Love it, want one for my neighborhood. People just go barreling down residential streets at 45 mph, pisses me off to no end.
