Ford's Mark Fields asks employees to promote the company

Mark Fields, president of Ford's Americas group, in his weekly e-mail to managers Friday, urged them and each and every employee to talk up Ford with friends, family and any media they may encounter.

"An improving reputation leads to higher purchase consideration among our customers and, ultimately, more vehicle sales," states Fields. "Externally, each of us is a walking advertisement for the company to the world around us. We need to take this role very seriously as we speak with our coworkers, our neighbors and everyone with whom we associate."

Fields specifically wants employees to promote products coming out of the Dearborn plant...

File this under "DUH", but I guess they need to be reminded. Doesn't sound like there's much enthusiasm, eh?

I know their pricing plans for employees and their families makes 'em pretty good values, though.

I hate it when I'm hanging out with someone and they're all business. I know a guy that works at the local Ford dealership and he's always trying to get me to trade my S2K in for the Cobra they have in their showroom. I don't hang out with him much anymore.

Also, I don't think Ford employees are inclined (or motivated I suppose is the right word) to promote Ford products these days.
