2008 Subaru Tribeca really the old stillborn Saab 9-6x?

If you recall Subaru used to be under the GM umbrella until last year when the two companies parted ways. While still under GM's influence, Subaru and Saab joined forces to produce the Saabaru 9-2x (an Impreza in designer-label clothes) and the hoped-for Saab 9-6x (a Tribeca in designer-label clothes) SUV. As a result of the corporate breakup, the Saabeca version never materialized.

However, all was not lost, as Subaru appears to have been able to salvage much of the preliminary work done on the 9-6x, and move it over (back?) to Subaru design studios to be used on the 2008 Tribeca...
Not a bad way to save time and money in getting this much needed facelift into showrooms—ASAP!

Look carefully at the old Saab spy photos, found on Saabhistory.com (images here), of the 9-6x and compare them to the new 2008 Tribeca shown above. The headlights, and perhaps the front fender too, of the Tribeca appear to be lifted verbatim from the 9-6x. The rearend styling direction and rear quarter window too, while not exactly the same, appears to be greatly influenced by these early 9-6x design studies. Even the wheels appear to have come from the 9-6x.
