Connaught Motor Co. announced today that it will build the worldâs first green, high performance sports coupe at a new plant in southwest Wales, with a hybrid model to follow.
Production of the new car â the Connaught Type D â begins this year, and the first consumer models are expected to be delivered in early 2008. The first model will be the limited edition four-seater, the Connaught Type D GT Syracuse, with a V10 two-liter supercharged 300hp engine...
The Syracuse will be followed by the hybrid version â the Connaught Type-D V10 sports coupe. The coupe will be powered by a V10 hybrid gasoline/electric engine that will deliver a top speed of 150 miles per hour (mph), with 0 to 60mph acceleration in 6.2 seconds and 42 miles per gallon

How exactly is the non-hybrid V10 model "green"?
Seems about as far from it as you can get. It's even an impractical coupe shape!
0-60 in 6.2s is about what a Camry V6 manages today, so that's not exactly high performance.

42mpg is pretty darn impressive for a V10. The problem is that the 300hp is all used up towing the V10 with the electric motor. So you've got a very heavy coupe that probably can't negotiate a corner and no interior space. Doesn't sound like a winning combination.
