Interesting observation. The question whether the 8-speed LS tranny is up to SUV rigors? It would certainly drop the unit cost per tranny by spreading it around to a few other models.

I doubt it will have any affect whatsoever on Toyota's green image, at least not with those who currently believe it's true. They already rationalize the existance of the hybrid models as proof of that belief, regardless of the trucks and SUVs Toyota makes and the associated environmental impact of them.

The outgoing V8 was actually very "dirty", i.e. emissions and fuel economy were already rated very poorly. This bigger engine will be no worse, in fact on the emissions side it will very likely be a lot better.

Economy of the 5.7 is also better than the 4.7 , just drive a Tundra! Im sure my mother will enjoy the new LX570 as she has a 2002 LX470. To this day Im still amazed how well built her LX is......its like a tank!

saw the new LX 570 on the ny auto show website. Looks nice but those taillights on the back look ugly. Still waiting to see if Toyota will showcase the new Sequoia at the autoshow.

The new LX570 is almost stunning, despite the FJcruiserish rear lights and too-low lisence plate indent.
