2007 New York Auto Show: Chevy Trax

Chevy will show this cute Trax minicar concept, along with two other minicar concepts, at the New York Auto Show. The cars are based on a platform engineered by Daewoo, a GM affiliate. The Trax is powered by a 1.0L engine.

If they get enough positive results, who knows, maybe we will see something like this here.

Whoa... uhh... is this thing targeting the NA market? Kind of strange if you ask me. And how on God's green earth did they make a car smaller than the Aveo in sedan form? I'll have to see this in the sheet metal.

Um right...looks like Daewoo designed it as well. I don't mind the sardine car idea, but at least make it look pleasing to the eye and not some strange thing with wheels like the yaris/fit/versa/trax concept.

I guess the HHR gets smaller. Maybe called the TXT for Tiny X-over Truck...!

Finally, Something worthy of the Ecotec!

This doesn't look as tiny as some are making it out to be. How many Geo Trackers / Suzuki Sidekicks and the like sold onto the market in the 90's? This looks about the size those (2 door versions) used to be, but with the addition of two extra doors in the back.

If the price is right and the fuel economy numbers are anywhere near where they should be I'd even seriously consider one for a daily grinder, er, driver.

I like it except the goggle eyes, but I much prefer the Dodge Hornet concept, which looked sporty. This just look playful. I guess it might appeal to young females.

Looks nicer than an xA in my opinion...

I like the "google eyes." That's what gives it visual spunk.

finallly, stateside car manufacturers are getting serious about small cars. they seem to have forgotten that most families have two or more cars, and with gas prices going out-of-sight with no relief expected, one of them will increasingly be a gas-miser for errands, chores and commutes. i'm anxious to read more about this vehicle, and if the mileage is good and the price is right and if vw doesn't import the polo (3-cylinder diesel with 60+ mpg rating in europe) i will get one to replace my 2000 chevrolet metro, which still gets over 50 mpg during the summer months. i'm hoping.

I would definately considering getting a stripped small car as a commuter if it got a combined 45 MPG.

Looks like it would be fun. Its about time Chevy went into a different direction with their cars.

I like this thing....it allows me to say the word "cute" and still feel masculine....if this was my daughters car I would love to drive this thing around.....

I think it is fantastic. Exactly the type of thing my wife would love, and something we could both use for the commute together!
