2007 Geneva Auto Show: Reva Greeny AC1 kills the electric car a few more times

Reva Greeny AC1 - Scott Jacobs

As we approached the leopard-print electric car on the Reva display, unable to resist its wiles, a friendly but firm PR rep caught our glance and took us through a full walkaround. Revas, which are already available in the UK, will go on sale in Switzerland, Germany and Austria this year, he told us. They evidently go over well with city folk. He also mentioned that this Reva, the Greeny AC1, has a cruising range of 80 km or 50 miles...

Should you spring for the AC1-Z, also on stage but lacking an animal motif, that range goes up to 140 km.

The PR rep then asked why Americans don't like small electric cars. Or at least he seemed to be asking us, but it turned out he had already decided our aversion is caused by our love for big cars. But in this instance, we think it's because we couldn't drive from Santa Monica to San Bernardino without fear of being stranded on the side of the freeway in a leopard-print car. —Erin Riches, Senior Content Editor
