2007 Geneva Motor Show: VW Passat Bluemotion

VW is planning on showing the ultra-frugal Passat Bluemotion at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.

The Bluemotion diesel Passat is reported to average of 5.1 litres of diesel over 100 kilometres (55.4 mpg). The Passat wagon BlueMotion needs 5.2 litres (54.3 mpg) and produces 137 g/km of CO2 – also a top value, even in comparison to vehicles worldwide. Both sedan and wagon versions have a driving range of up to 1,350 kilometres (838 miles) with a full tank...
With an average annual distance driven of 15,000 kilometres (9,315 miles), this means that the driver only needs to refuel 11 times a year with an average of 68 Euros* in fuel costs per month.

Will we see it here? Don't know, but I hope so.

Who drives 9315 miles per year? In Europe maybe.

In the US it's more like 12k miles per year. I read somewhere that men actually average 16k miles per year, nearly double the number of stops they imply.

Brag about the range, not a bogus # of fill ups.

Men average 16K a year?!? Wow, I must be above average! I put on a consistent 20K a year. I guess that means I'd fill my tank 24 times a year, huh?

I agree... brag about the range.

I only drive about 8K miles a year, but I live about a mile and a half from work. ;-)
