The Detroit auto show is much more than just cars. It's all about gizmos and gimmicksâanything that might sway a buyer from buying "Brand A" and move over to buy "Brand B"âthat's the name of the game. The result being you're seeing some silly stuff being offered, but you're also seeing some pretty neat stuff too.

"Cars are so similar in so many ways automakers are depending on these technologies to differentiate them," said Karl Brauer, editor in chief of Edmunds.com. "Exclusive agreements with Microsoft, Swivel 'n Go seating and interior lighting are things that are setting cars apart for buyers."
