The Ford Interceptor Has An Independent Rear Suspension...Again!
In our early story on the very American, very muscular, very blue Ford Interceptor sedan we faithfully reported that the concept carries an independent rear suspension. That's what Ford told us. And since the car wasn't finished being built when Ford told us that and we couldn't see the actual car, we took the company's word for it. Later, we called a Ford rep to ask how the company could justify saying the concept was built on the stick-axle Mustang platform if it has an IRS and a different front suspension...
He admitted that the public relations staff had mistakenly described it as independent and that it was actually an old-school stick axle. After Ford's lengthy press conference (complete with a guest spot by Bill Gates) this morning we wandered over to the rear of the Interceptor, knelt down, twisted our neck, dragged our tie on the floor and--lo and behold--saw beautifully rendered aluminum A-arms connecting the rear wheels to the chassis. So let this blog entry be the correction to the correction. The Interceptor has an independent rear suspension. But hey, who's counting? This is a show car. And there's a reason they call this show business. Things are not always what they seem. But it's nice to know that Ford was right in the first place--before they were wrong, or right. Oh, whatever. -- Daniel Pund

This car has all the style that the five hundred was missing.
It's like its 2003 all over again.

Maybe it was meant that the concept has IRS, but any possible production version would not?
