Let the excuses begin. The Fit is no more revolutionary than the Aura. It is a good small car in a field of many competent small cars. The packaging is nice, but the performance and styling are nothing to write home about. I dont think this award necessarily means the winner has to be a world beater in every regard. You seem to be neglecting the fact that the Aura is generally seen to be one of the most stylish and best handling midsize sedans in this price range. The Fit is merely adequate in both categories. Nor is this award a referendum on which segment of the market is "more important than ever". In spite of the growth of small cars this year (mainly due to new offerings) the midsize market is far larger and more important.

You seem to have something against the Fit, sure its a great small car but there is no reason to keep harping on about it. Drive one then drive a Aveo, big difference!
The Silverados award is well deserved as well as the Auras, congrats GM!

That's what I want to hear. I believe I read a post from you in an earlier blog last week that you were going to wait until the winners were announced to tell us your votes Karl?

I think the Silverado definitely deserved the award, but the Aura? That leaves me perplexed. While I don't think the Camry offers disntinct advantages in LE 4 cylinder form, it still boasts very strong safety marks, content, fuel efficiency. What's more, the Hybrid is tremendous for the dollar, and the V6 is class leading in terms of power, refinement, efficiency (better than the Aura's 3.6L). The Camry also offers a sportier model which has been widely praised (reference M/Ts COY review) for its significantly more disciplined handling.
The Fit is the vehicle I thought would nab the award, though. A marvel of space efficiency, with strong crash test ratings, fuel sipping engine, go-kart reflexes, impressively flexible interior... there's a lot more about this vehicle that makes it stand out in its segment than the Aura in its.
