According to The Hollywood Extra the mystery car (Mystery car spotted in LA ) is not a Honda HR-V, but rather the new Honda Crossroad. Not sure if it's to replace the HR-V (or Element), or as to whether it's strictly a JDM-model. In any event, it appears the mystery is solved.

, this is not the first time Honda has used the "Crossroad" name...
I guess re-badging a LR Discovery as a Honda shouldn't come as too much of a surprise, as Rover used to re-badge Hondas a few years back. I even rented one while on vacation in the UK.

I'm having a difficult time discerning scale. Is this the same platform as the Element? It seems bigger, but it is probably just my imagination.

Why does the exterior look like it was made in the '80s and the interior in the '90s?

I think i like it better when i didn't know what it was. I hope it soesn't replace the element. The Element with its updates for 07 actually look good. The SC looks so [Insert your choice of word here] but i still like it. The element just needs some powertrain adjustments [i-CTD-i anyone?] and a new up to date interior. Otherwise, the element is doing good in my book.

Looks like Chysler's attempt to steal the Pilot design. That's hideous.

While the design looks very much like it could be a future Element, there's at least one thing missing that makes me doubt this- notice the four normally opening doors. Aren't the Element's rear doors suicide-hinged so that the front / rear doors form an extra-large opening. I believe this is one of the trademarks of the vehicle's flexibility, and any future versions would be weaker designs without this.
