A Toyota-Ford alliance?

We couldn't let the year end without some more talk of more auto brand alliances, now could we? Well, that's what's happening—and Wagoner, Ghosn and Kerkorian are nowhere to be seen!

No, this time it's with Ford's Alan Mulally and Toyota's Chairman Fujio Cho. Mulally apparently flew to Tokyo last week to meet with Cho to discuss ways in which the two companies might collaborate on advanced powertrain technologies and other issues. So, here we go again...

Talk about a win-win for both!
 
Toyota is a little too bad-ass right now, and can't just start dominating the US market, so sowing some oats with a wounded giant is a smart play, and will defeat protectionist.
 
Ford just needs to grow a brain, and since they can't, why not use the market's Top brain, Toyota!
 
Hat in hand is better than the alternative.

An alliance between arguably the most reliable car company in the world and an American company with more lawsuits than any other: what!?!?
 
I see no advantage for Toyota in this opportunity. Stay the course, Toyota. If you have intentions of buying PAG, that's one thing. Don't take the rotten apples with the good.
