SEMA: Foose on the Loose

One thing that really stands out at this year's SEMA show is this: Chip Foose's name is everywhere. Other than Foose wheels, which are installed on a large number of show cars, there are logo-encrusted brake calipers, as seen above on the Dodge Nitro on the Mopar stand.

The Nitro doesn't simply sport Foose wheels and brakes, as Chip is credited for putting the whole thing together.

Of course Baer brakes --the ones you can buy those Foose calipers from-- has a nifty Foose 'stang on their stand.

Dodge has this Foose pick-up concept sitting next to the Nitro.

Pirelli got into the act too, as the Foose logo is plastered about their stand, which features a Foose-designed roadster wearing Pirelli tires mounted on, you guessed it, Foose rims.

This Hummer was recently restored on a yet-to-be-aired episode of Foose's Overhaulin' show. Apparently this rig was used by CNN embedded reporters in the early days of the Iraq war.

And then there's this so-called P-32 Ford '32 roadster, styled by the Foose team to look like a World War II fighter, complete with airframe-style zinc chromate interior paint.

If you happen to glimpse Mr. Foose at SEMA, he'll most likely be buried behind a sea of autograph seekers, as he has achieved rock-star status among this crowd.

Chip Foose is truly an artist in the automotive world. He takes ordinary cars and tranforms them into unique and beautiful machines. What I like the best about his work is that the cars are meant to be driven.

I'm a fan of Foose but a lot of this is just marketing. I'm sure he didn't design those Baer brakes. Money talks.

Don't forget the Foose Hemisphere. Nice car, horrible name.
