Mix Master Dude, Whatcha Got to Say?

So Honda seemed to score a decent hit with the critics with the unveil of its Remix concept...a four-cylinder, six-speed, front-wheel roadster aimed dead-square at "Gen Y."

But as the crowd drank in the lovely curves, cockpit canopy and shiny bits of the Remix, its designer -- a youthful Californian named Ben Davidson -- staggered through the all-too-canned comments of his darling concept.

All I remember was: "Gen Y"

"Youth"

"Sporty yet practical"

"Gen Y"

In the end, Davidson felt much more at ease shooting the breeze with reporters after the formal ceremony was over. And why shouldn't he be? The Remix stands as a much needed breath of fresh air from Honda and as a testement to the investment the company has made in its SoCal R&D studio...

While the Remix will never be more than just a concept, it might help influence the design language used by Honda to attract the "MP3 Generation" as an executive described it, and then illustrated by showing a slide of 20-somethings hanging out...most notably a young woman with a sneer, a skirt, boots and a seemingly wheel-less skateboard resting on her shins.

Fortunately, Davidson seems to be the real deal when it comes to knowing who Honda is aiming for. In fact, he might be the poster child of the demo.
