Goodyear tire strike could impact on tire safety

File this under "FYI:"

Goodyear tire workers have gone out on strike due to the company's demands to cut their healthcare, close factories and import tires from China and other low-wage countries.

So why should you be concerned? Well, Goodyear has hired untrained temp workers—and according to a Princeton University study, these kinds of labor strife situations, including the use of replacement workers, have been linked with the production of defective tires in the past.

Buyers beware...

You have got to be kidding me!
Why didn't you guys just let the union write the entire post?
This is a "United Steel Workers" press release.

I wonder what they'll do if everybody stops buying Goodyear for good?
Their jobs sure won't come back!
Of course, American unions aren't known for forethought and proactivity.

Yeah, this is gonna cause huge losses for Goodyear. I'm not sure how automated the tire business is, but if those workers are highly trained, it spells doom.

Goodyear doesn't make good regular tires.
Only their high end tires are any good.
It's time for an old, stale company that did not invest in research to go out of business. Goodyear has a common mentality with Ford and GM.
I dig that BFGoodrich advertisement on this web page. HA! Michelin completely outclasses Goodyear.

This sounds so familiar, so ... predictable.
