Volkswagen's
new Chief Executive Martin Winterkorn plans on making some big changes, according to Spiegel
magazine. Spiegel said that Winterkorn plans to create a special premium brand group including Audi, Bentley, Bugatti and Lamborghini and a mass brand group including Volkswagen, Seat and Skoda.
In another proposed move, the roles of executive board members would be recast, including creating a central post for a development chief.

What, VW is not a luxury brand? LOL
Phaeton bombed so looks like they learned a lesson. VW shouldn't be in the >$40k priice bracket at all. They forgot their own identity.
I say this strategy helps them.

If it actually goes through, I'd say yes. To this day, I can't fathom why VW has been so set on being upscale.

On another note, I just learned that Porsche has just purchased a large portion of VW AG, bring total ownership to 29.9%. It takes 30% to take over the AG. We might see some serious challenges of power in Europe.
