SUVs reign in Venezuela

It costs $3.00 to fill up an SUV in Venezuela. No that is not a misprint. Gas costs as little as 12 cents a gallon in that oil-rich country; this thanks to government subsidies. So as a result, SUVs sell big time there, even if very few make enough money to buy an SUV...
It's interesting that Hugo Chavez, in his speeches to Venezuelans, often warns that rampant fuel consumption in the United States is causing global warming. Though his country is the world's No. 5 oil exporter, Chavez urges Venezuelans to adopt socialist values and says not everyone needs a car. Very few Venezuelans are taking heed, however.
