FV Report: 2009 Nissan Skyline GT-R caught on video

Earlier this week the first spy pictures of the 2009 Nissan Skyline GT-R were shot at the Nurburgring. They showed a prototype nearly identical to the concept, but we were left speculating on the some of the specifics. Now we have video of the Nissan Skyline GT-R making hot laps and a few details are now certain. For one, it's not packing a V8 under its long hood...
Although we didn't hear any tell tale sign of turbos, it sounds a lot like Nissan's V6 than a big eight. Another detail we can confirm is the use of some form of automatic transmission instead of traditional manual. Pulling away from a stop on surface streets outside the track, you can hear a couple quick upshifts that sound like a paddle shifted transmission. There's one last detail we found interesting. Throughout the footage, Nissan's engineers are driving a 2007 Porsche 911 Turbo along side the Skyline, a good indication they are aiming for world beating performance with this new Skyline. Should make for an interesting debut in Tokyo next year.
