We haven't heard much of out of Pontiac lately, but it appears as though GM's performance division has been hard at work on a new version of its compact sport wagon. The 2008 Pontiac Vibe prototype caught in these recent spy photos looks a lot like the current model with its angular nose and sloping roofline. We expect it will stick with four-cylinder engines too, although an upgrade to something with more torque would be a welcome change. Expect to see this Vibe make its official debut in the spring with sales beginning next fall.

Well, that's certainly not a Pontiac. Appears to be the kind of camouflage that one of the Asian OEMs would employ.

I agree that the camo doesn't look like typical GM, but it does resemble Toyota's recent camouflage efforts. And the roofline looks like pure Toyota Matrix to me. Since the Matrix and Vibe share platforms, you might be partially right, but the changes lurking beneath the disguise should have some relationship to the next Vibe.

The headlight shape looks interesting if it's at all final.

Alright, alright, I admit there's no conclusive evidence that this is the Pontiac Vibe. According to the shooter, the prototypes were accompanied by a GMC Yukon support vehicle, so it seemed more likely a Pontiac than a Toyota. But let's face it, whether it's a Toyota Matrix prototype or a Vibe, they're pretty much the same vehicle so either way expect new versions of both soon.

I was hoping the redesign would be something based on the new Asian Corolla redesign in the works all over the Matrix boards... The Pontiac doesn't appear to have those same flowing lines. I wonder if it's based on that great looking car with those cool features at all.
Pontiac needs to keep the compact sports wagon.. make it a little upscale. 4 auto up/down windows and a big moonroof. Oh, and make the roof rack and cross bars optional and completely removable for those of us who don't want the unaerodynamic clutter, please.
If so, and if it's reliable with their good warrantee, good handling, right features, power and economy mix, I would consider it for my next car.

It looks like a sedan disguised as a wagon
or a wagon like the canadian chevy optra...

Call me crazy, but that looks like a Mercedes camo job. Any thoughts? A US-bound A-class? Ok...So maybe that won't happen, but it does look odd for a GM car.

That's WAY too big to be a Merc A-class. Have you ever stood next to one?

That looks like the current Matrix with Vibe headlights. I wonder if they're changing it enough?

Well I agree its defenitly not the A-class, but i do in fact believe that its the Pontiac Vibe or they just made it look like it with the front grill.

It is too big to be an A class M-B, but it is not too big to be a B class. It is not though. The A pillar (and the rest of the cars as well) is all Matrix/Vibe, not B.

I don't really think that it is but don't those headlights remind you of a vauxhall astra? Same with the slope of the hood and the location of the foglamps. Since nobody knows exactly what it is, could it be an astra doing testing before it is sold as a saturn? just a thought...

Alrite obviously this is the vibe look at the front grill(typical gm grill) it has space for the upside down v which is pontiacs logo, and look at the roof rack which toyota does not sell for the matrix.

by the way, to clarify any misconception, Toyota does in fact sell the same roof rack as the Vibe. I own both the vibe and matrix and originally ordered that roof rack on the matrix. It is ugly, so we changed it. Plus I have seen a few in my area with them on newer matrix's than mine. As far as the camo, companies go to great lengths to DISGUISE their cars. IMHO, I will not make a guess first off because there is no proof of date of pictures and plus the new M-theory matrix is being released soon.

Aren't those Cadillac wheels for a CTS-V in the first few photos? If so, it makes it more likely that it is a GM prototype but it still may be a joint venture with Toyota. Although I thought they were cancelling the Vibe. It looks like an Aveo that's being Pontiacized. I hope I am dead wrong but we now have a Cobalt in Pontiac digs so anything is possible.

This is clearly a Pontiac Vibe. It looks unchanged and you can see the same bee-hive grill. I was hoping for some style changes, more like the Dodge Caliber, but unfortunately it looks basically unchagned.

It's definitely a vibe. The grille, and dont forget to overlook the roof. There's that OnStar antenna in the same spot it is on the current Vibe. The car is changed though, look at how the rear is more shelf like, like the caliber. The rear glass is slanted out and the taillight protrude out like the calibers and its flat above them.
