Clean diesel fuel to be available on October 15

Two days from now we will finally have clean diesel fuel available according to this report in Car & Driver. Clean diesel fuel will cut soot emissions from any diesel vehicle by 10 percent; but when combined with a new generation of engines hitting the road in January, it will enable emission reductions of up to 95 percent, according to the Natural Resources Defense Council and the Diesel Technology Forum.

"Diesel vehicles have always been 20 to 40 percent more energy efficient than comparable gasoline engines," said Allen Schaeffer, DTF executive director. "With the switch to cleaner fuel, consumers will see more fuel-efficient diesel cars, pickups and SUVs on showroom floors in the years to come."

This is great news, and it can't come soon enough...

Too bad the fuel is arriving before the car choices are.

I hear Ford and Dodge are coming out with light duty diesel pickups, though.
