2008 Ford Super Duty trucks have some new and very useful features

Ford now has a teaser site up on their new 2008 Super Duty trucks. Besides having the first production Class IV, F-450 pickup, they are offering a couple of very welcome, and long overdue optional features.

• The first being a foldaway bed extender that splits in the center, and folds away into the side of the bed when not wanted or needed. This is a great idea...
I've always thought that bed extenders have been sort of stuck in a Pep Boys-like, one-flavor-fits-all kind of funk. While the idea is spot on, the execution has been sorely lacking—until now. 'Bout time, I say...

• The second feature is even better than the foldaway bedliner. It's a built-in tailgate step. It has always been a hassle to get into the bed of a pickup when the tailgate is down. Now Ford has come up with an integrated fold-down step, that's built into the tailgate that makes this task a piece of cake.

Check out this link, and explore the sub-links to see what I'm talking about. Clearly this new Ford is much more than just another huge grille...

Very good ideas. I wish the thing wasn't so ugly to me as I prefer the look of the the new GM HDs. But Ford thought out of the box and came up with 2 practical features which I'm sure GM isn't too happy about.

I agree. Very clever ideas that I'm sure will take hold. I also must say, fit'n'finish look even better this year (something Ford has continuously suprised me with the past 4 years).
