More spy images of the new upcoming Hyundai Veracruz are showing up on the Net. I think Hyundai may have another winner here. The vehicle is quite handsome, and will be powered by a 3.8L V6, hooked up to a 6-speed automatic. AWD is naturally also part of the picture...

Looks like Hyundai stole the design theme for the new CR-V and upsized it a bit. What's with the new trend of downward sloping upper window lines anyway? Haven't these companies yet realized that more visibility, not less, is a desirable trait in vehicles, especially SUVs and trucks?

I couldn't agree more Jerry. I can't wait for this tiny rear quarter window fad to be over. It is DUMB design, and nothing more.

Well, is it not better than Toyota's visibility in the FJ? I do agree with you both, though.
Also, why is this market niché so huge? I understand soccer moms still want SUVs, but c'mon! Is this how the market is going to work from now on? Oversaturate a moderately sustainable niché until it's no longer popular?

The front end is hideous and the rear looks smushed. Copying Honda badly isn't smart, particularly since Honda isn't particularly known for pretty designs.

it doesnt matter what it looks like, its an SUV. Anyone that drives one is selfish and has their head in the sand about global warming. You really need to find a new interest rather than discussing what cars look like and how they drive. If you really need a car it should be the smallest most efficient one you can find.
More people were killed on British roads last year than were killed in the twin towers - its time for a real war on terror - a war on the car.

No. It's just time to make sure that folks who spout such nonsense everywhere are forced to walk everywhere or ride bicycles only- no internal combustion powered conveniences allowed. This would likely preclude electricity in their homes, since many electric power plants produce atmospheric "pollution", and those that don't general disturb the ecosystems in other ways (wind power on top of ridges, damming up waterways, etc.).
Sorry, just my kneejerk reaction to what seems to be a very narrowminded view of the world.

Anyways, it looks more like a Lexus not a Honda

And, the Hyundai VeraCruz is better than the Honda CR-V

Exciting.. can't wait to take a closer look.. The best I've tested so far in this segment is Mazda CX-9, but priced up there with a Lexus RX-350.
I'm looking for a modest stepup in the line from the new Santa Fe, with the rear light pod fixed for safety concern in visibility of the turn signals.
To me, this segment is all about cargo utility with AWD or 4WD capability to get me safely home in a sudden snow storm. I have no use for 2WD vehicles in my climate, making roads an obstacle course as I weave past them all stuck in my lane.
