You can always count on Honda to prove others wrong, or to unveil some new technology that will catch everyone by surprise. Such is the case with their new super-clean next-generation diesel .
Honda was able to achieve this by using a new and very trick catalytic converter. It is able to create ammonia, a substance that can turn harmful nitrogen oxide into harmless nitrogen...
Expect to see it in the U.S. market within three years.

Sounds like honda has found the needed technology to reduce NOx without urea injection unlike Mercedes

Yeah, and Bluetec failed to meet CARB standards so the Benz can only be sold in 45 states. Even Canada is supposed to adopt CARB rules, so Bluetec won't be sold in Canada, either.

ateixeira- your comment is somewhat correct and somewhat incorrect. Bluetec met CARB standards with use of Adblue. CARB and EPA are still negotiating the use of Adblue and the interval to for which the Adblue would be required to be refilled. There soon may be no cars allowed to be sold in CA anyway after CA sued the big six for emissions. The simplest remedy for the big six automakers is to suspend sales in CA.
Honda being able to meet emissions standards for diesels w/o the addition of urea or other substance is a technological advance worthy of praise. Bravo Honda!

"Bluetec met CARB standards with use of Adblue."
Indeed, M-B just annouced that they will sell M-, R- and GL-class diesels in 2008 (I didn't catch if they meant model year or calendar year) in all 50 states. Perhaps they jumped the gun and are assuming that by then they'll be able to meet whatever requirements for the refilling of urea that the EPA issues.
"The simplest remedy for the big six automakers is to suspend sales in CA."
Not so simple -- CA accounts for a huge chunk of total sales!
