GM, Nissan and Renault to continue talks

In an effort to try and stem rumors that the alliance talks have hit a roadblock, both parties, GM and Nissan/Renault, have stated that the discussions would continue until mid-October.

"The teams are conducting a thorough and objective analysis of potential synergies between all three companies with a focus on how an alliance could generate significant shareholder value for each company," the companies said in a joint statement. "

"Frankly, I said from the beginning that expansion of the alliance to a third North American party makes sense," Ghosn said.

Ghosn said he is only in talks with GM...
"As long as the talks continue, then we are not going to divide ourselves on many fronts," he said.

In a related story, Ghosn says the alliance could save GM $10B a year.
