Taking macho to the max, Ford has just announced the 2008 Super Duty pickups —including a new ground-crushing F-450 pickup with a 6000 pound payload, and towing capability of 24,000. Also new is a 350/650 horsepower/torque 6.4L Powerstroke diesel engine. Hopefully this new engine will restore the Powerstokes's image, as the last one was somewhat problematic.

Ford already makes an F-450 chassis truck that is widely used as the foundation for flatbed haulers and small dump trucks. But Reyes said pickup truck buyers expect a lot more from their vehicles.
"The challenge with a pickup is providing excellent ride, excellent handling and excellent stability -- both empty and fully loaded," he said. "It's tough luxury."

Without a doubt the best looking Super Duty pickup ever i just hope for Fords sake the new 6.4L Powerstroke diesel engine is all its cracked up to be, if so once again the best super duty will be even better.

Wow, that is one tough looking truck! I'm eagerly waiting for a comparison between this and the new GM trucks. The Ford has a better interior IMO.

Ford claims that this new truck has a best in class towing capacity. I don't see how this is possible when for Chevy and GMC, the Kodiak/Topkick has a towing capacity of over 26,000 lbs. which is two thousand pounds more than the F-450. Dodge doesn't make a truck bigger than the Ram 3500, according to their website. Remember, the F-450 is the next size up from the F-350 and the Kodiak/Topkick is the next size up from the silverado 3500. I just don't see how this is possible when there are no other trucks of equal size to the F-450 from any of Ford's competitors. They are all either smaller (1 tons) or much larger.

The Kodiak/Topkick only comes as a chassis cab. Ford is the first to introduce a factory pick-up. This should give Ford both a convienience advantage and a price advantage. Prior to this the pick up beds were all custom made for the chassis cabs at a higher than you would expect price.
