Toyota profits up 39%



No surprise that Toyota had a great 2nd-quarter, but a 39% rise in profits is somewhat of a surprise.

Snippet: Toyota has been helped by consumers moving from the big pickups and SUVs emphasized by Ford and GM toward more fuel-efficient vehicles, said Erich Merkle, an auto analyst for Grand Rapids-based IRN Inc.
