Lexus on Tuesday revealed minute details about its new 2007 LS460 and LS460 L , from its optional ecsaine headliner to what it calls a "revolutionary" heated steering wheel. Prices, however, were not yet disclosed.
When it hits showrooms in October, the Japanese brand's new sedan will feature a hand-sanded body, up to 11 air bags, and a spa-like "executive class seating package."
The Japanese automaker said its LS460 will travel from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 5.4 seconds. It is estimated to return 19 mpg in city driving and 27 mpg on the highway...
The LS460 has eight standard air bags-but the number jumps as high as 11 with option packages. The luxury package includes a headliner made of ecsaine, which is a suedelike material used by Yves Saint Laurent and his ilk for couture apparel. One LS460 option, the executive seating class package, includes a power nine-inch screen for the rear-seat entertainment system and a multifunction massage feature for the right rear seat. The optional heated steering wheel provides warmth the moment the button is pressed; there's no variation in temperature regardless of where the wheel is gripped. The vehicle's body is hand-sanded twice.
With all of these new goodies, a fully loaded LS460 is bound to have a breathtaking sticker price.

Sounds like an excellent place to spend some time- *if* you can afford it.
What makes the heated steering wheel revolutionary though?

It manages to look new yet has super conservative styling. 19/27 for the 380hp V8 is extraordinary. Perhaps the 8-speed automatic has something to do with it. =D
Autoblog reports it will start at $70,000.

It looks a lot like the first generation GS (and the current one). The front end in particular could have been a little more exciting. I know they have to play it safe, and they know what their audience wants. I do like it better than the new S-class. But there are so many awesome vehicles in that price range, it would be a tough call. I'd expect the Lexus to be the most reliable and quietest and all that stuff. But for that kind of money I want something sexy, so I'd have to go for the XJ or 7-series.

I'm sorry. I'm sure it's wonderful and all, but, IMHO, it's boring as all heck. As are all Lexi except maybe the IS.
