Former Toyota F1 driver and 2002 Champ Car champion Cristiano Da Matta suffered severe head injuries during a Champ Car practice session at Elkhart Lake in Wisconsin.
Da Matta hit a deer on the track while traveling at about 180 mph. The deer bounced and struck Da Matta in the head while his car hit the barriers at full speed.
Da Matta suffered a subdural hematoma, was immediately taken into surgery for removal of the blood clot and is now in the intensive care unit at Theda Clark Medical Center...
