The prototype BMW Z29 is a stunner. Based on the Z4, it weighs in at a bit over 2500 pounds. Details, at the moment, are hard to come by, but I'm sure more info will be forthcoming shortly. In the meantime you can drool over the images...
One small styling detail I find interesting is the way they used the logo on the door. It gives the effect of pushing the vehicle forward with the V--like door panel cut. I like that.

What a great looking car and a good idea with it only weighing 2500 lbs. I hope they come out with this.

Nice that BMW is addressing the fact their cars have become ridiculously overweight. My 06 330i is one portly bugger. Shed 600-700 lbs and it'd at least be nimble and quick. Of course shaving 10 inches off its obscene length would help too.

Thats a really nce car but I find it looks too much like the Z4 coupé from the side but still very nice...

Not bad at all. If this marks the end of the goofy rear-ends and "flame" styling - well, Mr. Bangle, I apologize for all those things I said about your mom. It's about time.

The headlights are kind of funky, but otherwise it's a good looking car. The only problem I see is that it sort of reminds me of a certain Datsun / Nissan from years ago. It might not be the greatest thing to remind buyers of lesser brands (regardless of how good that *other* car was).

Agree about the headlights, those are pure Ford New Edge. Looks like the euro Focus, actually, in that area.
The side looks better, gone are the scallops of the Z4 for a much cleaner look, no more obscure intersecting lines.
Call it Z2. Z29 sounds like a 80s Chevy.
