The AIADA newsletter is reporting that Lexus will launch a luxury sports car for 2009. At this point not much is known about it, other than it will be a 2-seater, and that it will be based on the LF-X concept car that was shown at the 2005 NAIAS.

2009 is going to be a great year! The Nissan GT-R, the Honda/Acura NSX, the Lexus (insert name here)- they'll all be in a 3-way dogfight. :)

The SC and the LF-X are totally different cars. The SC should continue to offer world class build quality but offer a much softer driving experience. The V10 LF-X should be a worthy Gallardo/F430 competitor as well as the new GT-R and V10 powered NSX. The Japanese are really going to have to prove themselves, but I dont think that they will have a hard time doing it.

That's just it, though, Lexus needs a sporty flagship to be accepted as a global premium player. This will be it.

You are right its all perception(is that the word i'm looking for?) and what people think about Lexus cuz if i'm like most ppl I think of Lexus as a soft and plush brand.

Well, maybe a sports car like this will begin to change perceptions.
