Will 2007 be the last year for Isuzu here in the USA?

I've always had a soft spot for Isuzu. We owned a red 4-door Trooper when they first came out; 1984 I believe. Even though it was about a sophisticated and comfortable as a John Deere tractor, I really loved that thing, 2.3L four-cylinder and all... I took it out on the beaches of Assateague Island over on Virginia's eastern shore countless times...
The wife and I hauled our then young kids up to New England, New York, and all up and down the eastern seaboard, and the Trooper was, well... a Trooper. It never complained—nor did we. Those were great times...

Now word comes that Isuzu sold just 638 vehicles in May, down 48 percent from last year. How long can this continue? Does anyone here think there will be an Isuzu here past 2007, as Inside Line is hinting? I don't, and I think it's a real shame. This is a text-book example of how lack of product can kill a brand.

I did own an 1988 Isuzu PUP 4X4 Truck. Great all around vehicle. The body of the vehicle did not hold up to Wisconsin Winter with the road salt! I wish the current Isuzu pickup had a diesel engine available!!

The horse is dying, someone shoot it so it doesn't have to suffer.

Bob, the horse died when Isuzu took their Trooper up to the the $30k level. Your Trooper, and our 1989 version, were well under the $15k mark.

It didn't pay for them to get greedy.

I thought Isuzu was a Chevrolet custom shop, run by some hispanic 25 year old in California.
Man check out that bling on the custom Chevys man.

Too bad Cadillac does the bling better.

Could Isuzu survive in USA? Yes. Will they? No.
Specialize in offering high mileage diesel engine options in compact and midsize trucks and import trucks and SUV's from Thailand.
Sell two to three passenger cars manufactured by GM Daewoo as Isuzu's. Why not, Suzuki will be dropping them, there is no place for them among GM's domestic brands, and they would provide Isuzu with a product line for survival.
Unfortunate that the "Chicken Tax" import tariff prevents Thailand light trucks to be imported profitably.

We love our aging 1998 Honda Passport aka Isuzu Rodeo, these were extremely popular in their day. Chassis problem repairs are mounting so we need to move on.. sad and frustrated that I can't find anything in a 2007 design that comes close to matching the cabin specs with 33 cuft of cargo in the rear. The SUVs have either gone too large with less efficient engines than this 3.2L or too small or the latest craze is to cram a 3rd row seat in.. there is an irony in that 3rd row, if you are carrying all those people in the 3rd row cargo area - where are you storing all their cargo? And if the answer is to put it on top, then what was the point? Not alone the vehicle is now unstable and unsafe to drive. Leave the 3rd row for the Minivan design.

Apologizes for the language... It's just... If I wanted a Chevy Trailblazer, I'd buy one, OK?
